Football Federation SA is pleased to announce that construction at The Parks Football Centre commenced this week.
The development has been made possible by a $1.5 million grant from the Office for Recreation and Sport through the 2013/14 Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program.
With this funding, Football Federation SA (FFSA) will deliver an artificial playing surface and player amenities based on those recently delivered at the Adelaide Shores Football Centre, which are in addition to the natural turf pitch and player amenities being delivered by the State Government.
When complete, the venue located adjacent to the revamped and modernised Parks Community Centre will boast 2 pitches – 1 natural and 1 artificial and player amenities.
The Parks Football Centre will be a unique venue for the Football Family and will be complemented by the Parks Community Centre redevelopment.
In total the State Government will invest $28.7 million; redevelopment has seen the Parks transformed with the construction of:
• A new 25m pool and an indoor children’s’ pool
• A new playground
• Cafe and public plaza
• A refurbished two storey multi-purpose building and the existing two theatres
• A refurbished and extended Children’s Centre
• A refurbished car park and additional parking spaces
FFSA CEO Michael Carter stated that the site will be a valuable acquisition for Football in the State.
“The Parks Football Centre will offer top quality facilities for players, match officials and spectators.
“The redevelopment at the Parks Community Centre is of the highest standard and will complement the Football component of the precinct. Having rehabilitation facilities on site will be of significant benefit for athletes utilising the venue”.
Works at the Football Centre are expected to be completed by November 2014.
