Adelaide Shores FFSA Football Centre

Barratt Reserve, West Beach Road, West Beach
COMPLETION DATE: Feb 2014
PROJECT VALUE: $2.6 million
CLIENT: Adelaide Shores & Football Federation SA

SCOPE: Construction of new football centre and elite level synthetic playing field, combining a function room, amenities, change rooms, kiosk and spectator viewing areas. The FIFA 2-Star Rated synthetic football pitch, with natural infill, is complete with sub-surface drainage and external field lighting for night-time matches. Due to the existing nature of the project site’s high water-table and soil profiles, an added complexity to the pitch design was overcome. Preventative measures were taken in preparation, by using maximum reinforcement of sub-surface, to ensure no future movement in the playing field’s precision perfect pitch surface. Total area inc pitch 11,500m2

DESIGN: The integration of light steel framing and traditional structural steel allowed additional flexibility in the design, while maintaining constructability. Thorough detailing and coordination allowed tight scheduling of both these structural elements to be simultaneously constructed. Benefits to the client with this design also included cost savings and speed of construction. The pitch stormwater was carefully designed to ensure long-term low maintenance for the client. This world-class playing field construction was closely directed by Ben Capuano to ensure the high level of precision was constantly maintained to achieve the FIFA RECOMMENDED 2-STAR certification
